Meet Dr. Courtney Castler, DCN, MS
My name is Dr. Courtney Castler, and I’m the founder of West Coast Functional Nutrition, a virtual functional nutrition practice based in the Portland area.
West Coast Functional Nutrition was born out of both my clinical training and my personal experience working inside the conventional medical system. Prior to starting my practice, I worked in a hospital setting where I saw firsthand how many patients were leaving appointments with more questions than answers. They were told their labs were “normal,” yet they didn’t feel well, and they weren’t given a clear plan forward.
After completing my doctorate in clinical nutrition, I knew I wanted to build something different. I wanted to create a space where people felt heard, where their symptoms were taken seriously, and where we could actually investigate the root causes of what’s going on in the body.
At West Coast Functional Nutrition, I work with adults who feel like they’ve been overlooked or dismissed in the traditional system. Many of my clients come to me dealing with ongoing gut issues, hormone imbalances, fatigue, or chronic symptoms that haven’t been fully explained.
What makes my approach different is that I don’t just look at isolated symptoms—I look at the whole person. Through personalized nutrition plans, targeted lifestyle strategies, and strategic supplementation, I help clients understand what their body is trying to communicate and give them a clear, actionable path forward.
Because my practice is fully virtual, I’m able to work with clients in a way that’s both accessible and flexible. You can schedule consultations and receive care right from your home, which makes it much easier to stay consistent and supported throughout the process.
At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to make a real difference in people’s lives. I want my clients to feel empowered, informed, and confident in their health again—especially those who have felt unheard for far too long.
If you’ve been struggling without answers, just know there are other approaches out there, and you deserve a plan that truly supports you.
“Your health deserves more than a quick fix.”The West Coast Functional Nutrition philosophy
